Peloton Review

Alicia BiceComment

A few years ago I started going to Cyclebar classes here and there. If you aren’t familiar with Cyclebar, it is a cycling studio where they have fun classes with the lights out and good music. It was pretty rough my first couple of classes, but they were fun and the instructors were so nice. The one I went to and love is the Cyclebar in Knoxville, TN. That studio is about an hour and a half away from me so I didn’t go very often, but when I was in town I tried too. Then I decided it was a little expensive for me to keep going, so I stopped. They have memberships, but I didn’t live close enough to justify getting one and the drop-in price was a little much for one class in my opinion. They also have a Cyclebar in Chattanooga, TN that is under new ownership now. I haven’t been to it since it reopened, but it looks like they are doing great!

Anyways, this post isn’t about Cyclebar, it’s about the Peloton bike, haha. I felt like I needed to give y'all a backstory on how I got into cycling though. I had thought about getting a peloton bike before, but didn’t want to spend the money on one because they are pretty expensive. Welllllllll, last summer I decided to break down and get one and now I am obsessed. I ride it almost everyday and I love it! They are pricey, but they do have a no interest payment plan option with Affirm to purchase the bike. You do have to pay a membership fee of $40 a month though , but compared to Cyclebar memberships, it is a quarter of the price. Even with a payment and the app, it’s still cheaper. Plus it is right there in your home.

The reason I think the app is worth it is because you don’t just get the cycling classes, they also have yoga, strength training, barre, meditation, cardio, running, and more. So it’s like a cycling membership and a gym membership all in one. I also love that you can filter the classes by instructor, music genre, class length, and class type. For the strength classes you can filter by upper body, lower body, core, resistance bands, etc. You can also get the app on your phone and iPad, so if you are traveling you can still workout if you want. I am going to post some pictures of the app, but I do have a YouTube video where I show you up close of the bike and all the features of the app. I will link it below if y’all want to check it out next.

Here are examples of the different workouts available on the app.

I do love my bike, buttttttt after I bought mine they came out with a better version (insert eye roll emoji). The monitor is a little bigger and it has a soundbar for louder classes, but the reason I want it is for the swivel monitor. Meaning if you want to do a strength workout with weights, you can turn the monitor to face your mat away from the bike where you have room. That was my only “complaint” about my bike. It isn’t a big deal, but where I had to put my bike I can’t get behind it to do a workout, I have to use my iPad. It also has where the resistance changes when the instructor calls out a change once again not a big deal, but the bike+ has a bunch of cool new features.

So if you are wanting to buy a peloton, definitely look into the bike+. They also have packages where you can get a set of weights and cycle shoes, which is what I did. It of course does cost more, but if you are doing a payment plan might as well get everything you need right? I actually have a code y’all can use that will get you $100 to use towards accessories at checkout if you wanted to buy just the shoes it should work for that! Just put this CODE: 7RJEMK.

If you were on the fence about getting a peloton bike, I hope this helps you decide. Definitely check out my YouTube video next because I show y’all the bike up close, along with the cycle shoes and the app. If you have any questions about the bike or app feel free to comment or email me! Keep scrolling to see more pictures of the filters you can apply within the app: music, instructor, class type, etc. If you do buy one let me know and we can follow each other on the app!

You can pick your favorite instructor and it will show all their classes. My favorites are Kendall Toole, Cody Rigsby, Bradley Rose, Ally Love, Jess King.

Kendall will definitely kick your butt! She’s tough but very empowering! I’ve gotten choked up on a few of her rides. Her arm workouts have a lot of boxing, and just a warning, her metal rides are no joke, haha.

Cody Is probably my favorite. He is so extra and I love it! He might be a little much for some people but I could take his class everyday. He loves Britney Spears and always had good playlists.

Bradley is British, so I love listening to his accent. He is also really funny, so his rides are very entertaining. He also has good playlists.

Music genres to pick from.

Class lengths.

Areas of the body for strength workouts.
